‘Design Thinking’ has been taught to non-designers for years in the US and Europe and the benefits are now being embraced in New Zealand as well. It’s about helping businesses, organisations and public sector departments create new products or improve a service or even rethink how they do things.

Exponents of the Design Thinking technique use words like ‘emotion, ‘wicked problems, ‘uncertainty’ and ‘learning journeys’... all things that are familiar to the designer but scares the pants off most managers in the corporate world. So it requires real open-mindedness and commitment, but if it’s embraced fully the benefits are huge!

There are many ways of crystallising the process and all advocates have their own formula...

...we call ours

'Design Thinking'

       - simply thinking just like designers do!

What do we do?

               - share our communication insights

                              with businesses & organisations

I’ve been working as a designer in the branding and graphics field for over 25 years now and my job has been to come up with creative and compelling communications that excite my client’s audiences. To do this, we designers use a bunch of techniques and approaches that allow us to create ideas and solutions that often have our clients saying "Wow, that's amazing!... how do you come up with this stuff?".

Many believe it’s some kind of magic process that only the chosen and initiated can access. This may be true for some aspects of creativity but I believe that non-designers can learn, practice and master many of these techniques and approaches, then use them to enhance and energise their own organisations.

So with that in mind I've started to put together a series of ‘insights’ under 'The BDI Studio' banner to share with people and lessen the mystique associated with ideas and creativity!

We have two insight subjects so far...

The leading one is based on ‘design thinking'

The other is how to breath life back into PowerPoint Presentations...

It's simply a meeting of 'information' & 'emotion'.

Often the most amazing data can look complicated and difficult to follow. This can lead to confusion and a missed opportunity to convey a really important message.

Our job is to make sure the style and content of a presentation is easy to understand, compelling and intriguing enough to create an emotional response from the audience. This approach ensures the message gets through.

You no longer have to subject your audience to 'death by Powerpoint'. Here's a little story created in a Powerpoint style program showing that presentations don't have to send your audience into a coma...

So what is 'Infomotion'?

             - a form of CPR for PowerPoint.

So... if you think your important information could benefit from a bit of creative energy to bring it to life, with natty visuals to add clarity and inspire some emotion and action...
